On being responsible

Often we spend too much time considering what we do not have, and too little time considering how rich we are in who we already are.  The truth is you are rich beyond words.

You have you; your beliefs, your determination to succeed, your integrity, all your talents and abillites untapped or otherwise.  Material things will come and go and the accompanying desires and preferences will change.  Can you think back to a love affair that did not last and now you are utterly relieved that it didn’t.  Or the house you so wanted to live in that fell through only to end up in something much better? A case of be careful what you wish for.

So it would seem to me that all we can do is take control of who we are and be our best self. You are the sole owner of the fantastic person you are and you alone are responsible for how you move around in your world.  What someone says about you is not the relevant issue; it is how you choose to react to their comments, you decide whether it has any influence on you.

You only possess one person and that is you.  It is not your husband or wife.  You do not own your children.  You are their guide, which is a huge responsibility, but nothing more.  We must be vigilant to ensure we do not live vicariously through those around us.

Although ownership sounds powerful, it is a great relief to understand that you need only own yourself, your behaviour, and your beliefs.  And although it is often tempting for us to involve ourselves ‘helping’ run someone else’s life it is not your concern. Often it is such a strong temptation to tell others just know how they should behave and with many of them we try to take ownership and run their life!   It is not a good idea at all so just take control of your own life and make sure you fulfill your own promise.

Once you have come to realise that you only own you, you can step back, let go and have fun. Instead of choosing what other people should do, you can wholly focus in on choosing what you should do. You can concentrate on shaping and developing your life.

Your ownership means that you can do what you want with yourself. Your life is a blank sheet of paper. Your past does not exist anywhere but in your own mind. So you can choose whatever you want to do to move forward.  You can have whatever profession you want.  You can earn as much money as you desire.  Stop wishing and start choosing. You can choose whatever you want and take whatever actions you choose to rectify any situation you are in.

It is absolutely true that you set the ultimate destination for your life.    Where will you end up?  Wherever you choose to end up. Wherever you are now is dictated by the choices you have made previously therefore I think we can agree that when you are seventy and look back on your life the same will be true.  You undoubtedly still have quite a few decades to get yourself to whatever destination you choose.

You will accomplish what you choose to accomplish. You will make and save as much money as you choose to. You will write as many books as you choose to. You will take as many holidays as you choose to. You will have the kind of relationships you choose to. What you accomplish is up to you! There will be no one to blame if you look back and regret not having taken hold of your life when it occurred to you that you could – that could be THIS MOMENT!  Go out and grab it

And if we can help you to get back on track and grab the life you are meant to live, well, you know where we are!
